What is Permanent Residency? 永住許可とは
Permanent Residency (永住許可) allows you to live in Japan indefinitely without the need for periodic visa renewals. It is one of the most stable immigration statuses available to foreign nationals.
永住許可を取得すると、在留期間の更新が不要になり、就労制限もなくなります。日本で長期的に安定した生活を送りたい方に最適な在留資格です。
Key Requirements 主な要件
- Length of residence: Generally 10 years in Japan (including 5 years on a work/management visa) / 原則10年以上在留（うち5年以上就労）
- Good conduct: No criminal record, tax payments up to date / 素行が善良であること
- Financial stability: Stable income to support yourself and dependants / 独立した生計を営む能力があること
- Special cases: Shorter residency requirements may apply for spouses of Japanese nationals, highly-skilled professionals, etc. / 日本人の配偶者・高度専門職等は要件緩和あり
